Happy New Year 2013!!!

Happy New Year to you!!!  So my last post was in the spooky month of October and I have been M.I.A. for far too long. It is the start of a new year and I have created a new set of resolutions for my life.

Hmmm. That sounds familiar... last year I thought I made some resolutions but nothing seemed to get the ball rolling. My goal of becoming 95% fluent in Mandarin Chinese and prioritizing my finances floated off the ground with high hopes of success but let out air midway.

Maybe I should reconsider what a resolution means. Is it enough to know that it is a committment to oneself to change or improve a lifestyle habit that will make a person happier and healthier? In ancient times, the Babylonians made promises to their gods at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and repay their debts. The Romans made promises to the god Janus, for which the month of January is named after. In medieval times, the Knights took a "peacock vow" at the end of the year to confirm their committment to knighthood.

Thank you, Wikipedia, for an interesting insight on resolutions. I have set 3 (hopefully achievable) resolutions for the year of 2013:

#3. Blog it out at least once a month. Language is fascinating!

#2. Eat healthy and be happy... and be healthy.  :-)

#1. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Resolutions for the new year will bound to be a success if you commit and motivate yourself to achieve your goals... small steps make a big difference! Good luck!
